Ian is a deep diver, there is nothing he won't roll up his sleeve to fix!

  • Applications Dev
  • Tester
  • Coffee

A recent transplant to Chicago, Ian jumped at the opportunity to join his girlfriend on a new adventure in the midwest.  Originally from Salt Lake City he grew up working for the family restaurant and attended the University of Utah.  Rather than pursuing a postgraduate degree in psychology he decided instead to go back for Computer Science and has been very happy with that decision

What you bring to the table

Since graduating most of my work has centered around updating and debugging legacy code and migrating web applications to the cloud.  I am also an avid bug hunter and enjoy finding those nasty edge cases, hopefully before they have the chance to ruin a developer's weekend.

Your favorite pastime

Some of my favorite pastimes are cooking for friends, traveling and whenever possible, being outdoors with my 3 dogs Scout, Lady, and Charlie.  I also enjoy games of all types and am always up for a good old fashioned game night.

What are your favorite and least favorite words?

I am not certain I have an absolute favorite word, but I do like “punctilious” and it fits with good software development practices too so that’s a plus. My least favorite is the phrase “fair enough” individually the words are just fine but paired together it feels like a combination of “my bad” and “agree to disagree”.  Fair or not fair, there is no fair enough.

Ever have a personal experience with a celebrity?

I don’t have too much experience with celebrities in real life, but I do get told I look like Diego Luna a lot, so sometimes I pretend.

Which fictional character would you want in your family?

Bender from Futurama.  He seems like the “fun uncle” type and would definitely come in handy if I ever needed to bend any girders.
